BAZA space for choreographic research warmly invites international dance companies, independent choreographers, performers, and facilitators to share proposals for workshops, ateliers, lecture-demonstrations, research sharings, or intimate public events/performances in Sofia, Bulgaria.

BAZA Space is an independent artist-run space in Sofia, focused on choreographic research, improvisation, and interdisciplinary practices. A home for international choreographer Zornitsa Stoyanova and her company BodyMeld, the space is 90sq. m. with the only sprung dance floor in Bulgaria available for the independent scene. We seek to host and collaborate with practices that are alive, process-based, and curious, especially those within:

The choreographic process
Improvisation as a core artistic tool
Somatics
Interdisciplinary and hybrid formats
Release-based dance techniques

We welcome artist talks, in-process presentations, book launches, embodied lectures, and experimental encounters — formats that invite dialogue and allow work to be seen as it is becoming. Proposals should resonate with the values of BAZA as a space dedicated to choreographic research, polyphonic voices, and shared artistic inquiry.

What We Offer:
Support with digital communication, public visibility, and connection to local artistic networks
The possibility of developing a one-off event or an ongoing collaboration across the year
Access to BAZA’s studio space
Ticketed events with profit sharing: 60% artist / 40% BAZA
Use of BAZA’s online ticketing system
Openness to shaping alternative partnership or revenue models together

What We Do Not Offer:
Direct financial support or production budgets
Full technical production (lighting, sound, stage crew)
Event staff, unless previously arranged

We are especially happy to hear from artists interested in exchange, improvisation, and building meaningful connections in, around, and with  Eastern Europe.
